Full Scottish – 12/07/2020

Welcome to the Full Scottish from our Cowcaddens Studio in Glasgow.

Full Scottish starts at 12:00 midday on Sunday 12th July 2020

On the Full Scottish this week, Kenny McBride is joined by, Maree Todd MSP for Highland an Islands and Scottish Government Minister for Children and young people and Adam Boys OBE, former Director of ICMP in Bosnia and Human Rights activist.

Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide and the annual commemoration took place in the midst of the COVID-19 restrictions, which made the event seem even more poignant and emphasised that Never Again should really mean Never Again.

As a no-deal Brexit is looking ever more likely, the UK government is being forced to spend on new customs facilities to help reduce import and export delays which could bring the UK’s just-in-time economy to a grinding halt. Add to this the economic hit from coronavirus and the UK economic future is not looking bright and may not be orange as the US Elections approach in November.

As the UK government announce a resumption of arms sales to Saudi Arabia, what message does the Foreign Office takeover of DfID give to arms dealers and NGOs? With conflicts still going on in Yemen and Syria, whose agenda will prevail, the arms dealers or the NGOs?
