Full Scottish – 10/11/2019

Welcome to the Full Scottish from our Cowcaddens Studio in Glasgow.

Full Scottish starts at 12:00 midday on Sunday 10th November 2019

This week’s Full Scottish is presented by Maggie Lennon and she is joined by guests, Cllr. Julie Bell from Kirriemuir and by Lizzie Eldridge, writer, performer and campaigner for press freedom and justice.

With the General Election underway, we look at the first week of the campaigns and how Scotland has been covered in the media

It is 30 years since the Berlin Wall came down. That was followed by the end of the Cold-war, German re-unification, and the independence of the Baltic States and east European enlargement of the EU. As we see the rise of the AfD in Germany and far right parties across Europe.

Malta is a European country and a member of the European Union, but it is a country beset by allegations of corruption, Russian dark money and even by the murder of journalist, Daphne Caruana Galizia who was critical of the Maltese government.

Spain has renewed its attempts to put Professor Clara Ponsati on trial. The former Catalan Government Minister was served with a European Arrest warrant charging her with Sedition which carries the risk of 15 year in jail.

Today is Remembrance Sunday and a time to reflect on those who have fought and died in the service of the whole of the UK.
